Job Details & Duties:

This role is professional. Our office is in downtown Bethesda, Maryland. We are seeking a self-motivated individual, an independent thinker, and highly energetic. This is a busy environment where client satisfaction is paramount. This is a mid-level position and candidates must have experience in managing projects and staff, be savvy technology users, and be quick learners of trends. The job duties include but are not limited to the following:

Respond to client inquiries.
Oversee the timely and accurate delivery of client deliverables.
Prepare financial analyses and reports for clients.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end client financial reports for client delivery.
Oversee multiple aspects of client deliverables while assuming responsibility for the end product.
Assist with client’s annual audit work and liaise with client auditors.
Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
Perform other accounting duties and support junior staff as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or Masters degree in Accounting.
  • Ideal candidate will be a CPA candidate who has either already taken the CPA or is sitting for the exam shortly.
  • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Some supervisory experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an accounting environment
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements
  • Ability to prepare supporting schedules for audit purposes and balance sheet accounts
  • Leadership skills – ability to manage and delegate (small team)
  • Nonprofit experience or government contractor experience preferred
  • Grant management and reporting experience preferred
  • Technology skills – Quickbooks, Excel, Microsoft Office, Sage Intacct (if possible)
  • Ability to work with multiple clients at once
  • Delegation and supervisor skills/experience
  • Accurate and detail oriented with good math skills
  • Proven superior project/organizational skills, ability to establish priorities, and ability to multitask under deadlines
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills – Ability to supervise and motivate
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and work with limited supervision
  • Highest standards of ethics and discretion with prior experience handling confidential information.

Individuals are compensated commensurate with productivity. This means that salary is ascending as the individual progresses in productivity and performance.
